Clifford joined CLPM in 2020 and is an experienced Quantity Surveyor, working in our commercial team.
He also coaches clients, sharing his expertise and giving construction cost planning and monitoring advice virtually via Microsoft Teams as one of our ‘Construction Guru’ Quantity Surveyors.
With over 15 years’ Quantity Surveying experience, across a wide range of organisations, Clifford’s career started in the commercial sector – first working for a large painting and decorating company, and then for a high voltage electrical engineering and civil engineering firm.
He then spent 7 years working in the residential sector, working for the investment division of a local authority before joining an independent firm of Chartered Surveyors. In his next next role, Clifford worked for 3 years as a Quantity Surveyor/Employer’s agent working on residential and mixed use new build developments ranging from £500k to £12m in value, before most latterly working on a mixture commercial, healthcare, residential and retail refurbishment projects. Over his career, Clifford has worked with a varying client base – from householders to large commercial entities and he has provided support and advice on matters such as contract compliance, contract awareness, contract change management, claims, variations, as well as other related legal and financial matters.
Together with the rest of the Quantity Surveying team, Clifford supports our architectural partners, homeowners and commercial clients. His role at CLPM is focused on project cost consultancy and management. This includes providing bespoke estimating services, preparing budgets, tendering and compiling contract documents.
Clifford and other members of the team also work together with our project managers to deliver the Contract Administration role. This service helps our clients to manage their responsibilities under the contract with the contractor. The CLPM cost team work with our field-based Project Managers by certifying amounts due for payment in line with work completed on site, assessing variation costs and agreeing the final account.
In his spare time, Clifford plays tennis weekly and also enjoys bouldering whenever he gets the opportunity. As well as having a keen interest in motorsports, he also enjoys tinkering with project cars. Clifford cares deeply for animals and campaigns for their fair treatment.
