The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015 sets out legal requirements that apply to all construction work including domestic projects. Under these regulations, the Client, the CDM Principal Designer and CDM Principal Contractor all have duties to fulfil. On projects involving multiple contractors, Clients must appoint a CDM Principal Designer and a CDM Principal Contractor.
With several duties to perform before work starts on site, the CDM Principal Designer has an important role. They must consider the health and safety risks on a project, and ensure it is safe to build, use and maintain.
To minimise potential safety problems, delays and unnecessary costs, CLPM can support you with the CDM Principal Designer obligations on your project.
