CLPM’s Energy Consultant help clients to save money!
THE PROJECT
CLPM’s Energy Consultant help clients to save money.
Our client was introduced to us when they were looking to include smart controls to their heating system plans.
They were beginning to renovate a Grade II listed former vicarage which included major home improvements. This consisted of 3 storeys and an AGA.
Our client had renovation plans but wanted to get the fabric of the building, the heating system and running costs under control first.
THE CHALLENGE
The property was old, and had not had any work done on it for over 40 years.
Being such an old property, the build and insulation was not at todays required standards. The running costs were extremely high.
The client wanted to introduce a hot water and heating system that was compatible with part of the existing kit, but wanted to modernise and include smart technology.
The Grade II listed status threw in challenges at every step.
THE SOLUTION
CLPM Heating and Energy Consultant Rob Bohm visited the clients. He surveyed the property and took the time to understand the clients wishes and plans.
Rob evaluated the way the building had been built, and suggested ways the clients could make changes to improve their insulation, and air tightness. He also made suggestions on the heating system that would be most suitable for the property.
An ecological survey was required along with advice from a heritage consultant to ensure any renovation plans were going to adhere to the Grade II guidelines.
Rob was able to locate the right personnel to work on the project.
Rob provided the clients with a comprehensive report which outlined all the work required to improve the property.
THE RESULT
The client took Robs advice and has continued to make home improvements where he could.
Rob identified several issues with the current system that had not been addressed for years, along with control issues.
This meant the client was using 9000l of oil per year, and by making these changes he had reduced his oil consumption by 3000l. Using prices at todays rates, the client could expect to save around £2500 per year on oil.
This one element of the home improvements suggested has more than paid for Robs services, and has also helped the clients reduce their carbon use. Implementing more of the suggested work will help reduce the clients energy consumption and reduce annual bills further.
Rob had also planned the work required to bring the heating system up to date. He was able to produce a schedule of works for a contractor.
Rob then helped the clients to find a contractor and was employed to oversee the work. This is how CLPM’s Energy Consultant help clients to save money.
