CLPM provide home energy reviews in Oxford and across the South East of England.
We are currently carrying out this home energy review on a home in Oxford. The 2 bed terraced house close to the centre of Oxford is to be refurbished and extended, and our clients are keen to improve the comfort of their home which is very cold in winter. We have been briefed to look at the suitability of systems that would enhance the overall performance and efficiency of the house such as ventilation and heat recovery systems, underfloor heating, and additional insulation to the existing fabric of the building.
As part of the exercise our clients also need advice on the outline costs for the various options. The house is a two storey end of terrace brick building built in the 1890s. Its solid walls are typical of the houses of the period, in that they are very poor in terms of keeping the heat inside the home. Similarly, the windows are single glazed and the roof is poorly insulated.
Tony Duffin, Sustainability Director for CLPM, is currently working with our clients, and their architects Perioli Man, to determine the best, most cost-effective way to enhance their energy performance. Our aim is to help ensure our client’s newly refurbished home is not only attractive and practical but is also a warm place in which to live.
