Tythe Barn Eco-Restoration Project is a Winner!
Congratulations to our clients, Jamie and Anna Rankin of Micklefield Hall. Their grade 2 listed Great Barn at Micklefield Hall was the overall winner for Restoration at the Chilterns Buildings Design Awards this summer.
It took Anna and Jamie, the owners of Micklefield, near Rickmansworth and their architects GMTW over seven years to get planning permission. They wanted to renovate and restore their tithe barn, which is now a very popular wedding venue.
CLPM worked together with GMTW and helped the building project with sustainability advice and project management support.
The Chilterns Buildings Design Awards described the restoration project as a “spectacular example of sensitive adaptation to a new use that brings together immensely clever building technology sandwiched between traditional surfaces.” And added further that “Modern Building technology had been sandwiched between traditional surfaces so the beauty of Tudor craftsmanship is undimmed.”
Here, here we say – exactly what sustainable design should be all about!
