We have recently been appointed to support clients with their home renovation with disabled adaptations in Oxford.
The large detached family home is situated in a popular village to the east of Oxford. Our clients have drawn up plans to renovate and remodel the main house and to create an adjacent, separate annex.
The house had not been refurbished for some years, and was purchased by our clients recently and is need of updating throughout. It will be rewired, and will have new windows and doors as well as new flooring, a new kitchen and bathrooms. It will also be redecorated throughout. There will be improvements made to insulation levels and a more energy efficient heating system will be installed as well as low energy light fittings. All of which will modernise and refresh the look and feel of the house, as well as bring the house’s energy performance into line with modern standards.
The annex will include a carer’s bedroom with a separate utility and kitchen, an activity room, and a lift to the first floor bedroom which will contain specialist equipment such as a hoist etc. Outside in a separate building there will be a new hydro-pool.
Rob Bohm, CLPM’s Oxford building project manager, will be supporting our clients in the role of Contract Administrator. Rob will be visiting the site on a weekly basis. Contract Administration involves checking the construction works against the architectural specifications, and the agreed programme. It also involves monitoring any variances and checking the invoices are correct before confirming them for payment. This ensures the work proceeds according the plan, is built to the correct standard against the architectural plans and is completed at a fair and reasonable cost to the client.
The clients work in the construction industry as structural engineers and have completed the specifications and tender process themselves. The project is due to go onsite soon and whilst we are currently working with the clients to agree on a programme with a exact start date completion in time for Christmas.
