Hitesh and Siena had secured a bank loan of £50,000 and had some basic architectural plans.

The build was expected to take 4 months, so they bought 10 Essentials sessions for £2,350.

They decided to use their first session to talk through their project in broad terms with Mario, one of our Project Managers. On our suggestion they allocated a maximum of £47,000 for the construction project, which included a 10% contingency leaving £3,000 to set aside for other expenses and fees.

The next 3 sessions were with Clifford, one of our Quantity Surveyors who helped them check their budgeting assumptions, refine their plans and then talked them through how to find and appoint their build team. The remaining 6 sessions were split between Mario and Karim who between them helped answer their queries during the construction period.

They decided to aim for Microsoft Team videocalls every 2-3 weeks. Each time an issue occurred – in this case when old asbestos floor tiles were discovered, there was an error with the fitting of the patio doors and a risk of delays due to a member of the build team falling ill – they talked to a project manager who advised and guided them; checking the fairness of the quotes and helping them understand their options.

In the end, their build came in just under budget at £46,345. By investing as little as 5%* of their budget on our Essentials service Hitesh and Siena got access to expert advice, protected their financial situation and kept their build on track.
