We’re growing bigger here at Charlie Laing – and not only due to the turkey and chocolates!
Many will return from the Christmas break a little larger than they left and Charlie Laing Ltd will be one of them. Charlie Laing Ltd is proud to announce that Clive Sutton will be joining the team as Director of Cost Management from January 3rd, 2013.
Clive is a very experienced Quantity Surveyor and will leading the Cost Management Department as it grows to meet the increased Cost Management Demands of Charlie Laing’s growing base of Project Management Clients. Clive will also be developing the Cost Management Department’s capacity to respond to the increased calls from Architects and independent clients who require Budgets to be produced or Tendering Services and Cost Monitoring and Reporting in relation to their building projects.
We are all excited by these increasing calls for our Cost Management Services in relation to projects which we are not Project Managing and are very keen to provide a service that is desperately needed within the industry. There are a number of typical calls for assistance:
- An Architect will require an independent budgeting exercise in order to satisfy himself/herself and the client that the building being designed fits within the cost constraints of the design brief.
- A Contract Administrating Architect or Self-Managing Client will require assistance with tendering a design and specification to contractors. The contractors may in some cases be named but in many cases our Cost Department will put forward a suitable shortlist of contractors
- A Contractor will ask us to respond to an invitation to tender for a project which is coming from an Architect or other Contract Administrator. These are typically small and medium Contractors who do not have their own in-house Quantity Surveyor but do need to produce a professional and timely tender return. In some cases Contractors will ask for assistance to help during a period of particularly high demand for tenders – Perhaps they would usually produce their own but have two projects to be tendered at the same time and require a little assistance in meeting deadlines.
